Warriors upset Clinton; Cougars up next

CLINTON - Washington shot out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and made it hold up to upset Clinton, 68-59, Monday in a Class 4A substate boys basketball game.

The Warriors (6-16) advance to play Kennedy (16-5) in a substate semifinal Friday night at Kennedy. The Cougars beat Washington twice during the regular season.

Washington had 10 players break into the scoring column against Clinton.

The Warriors led 23-13 after the first quarter, but Clinton cut the margin to 36-31 by halftime.  Washington stretched the lead back to eight points after three  quarters.

Brady Ernst scored 23 points to lead Clinton (13-9). Jalen Jones added 14 points.

WASHINGTON (68): Anderson 2 2-4 6, Nelson 0 0-0 0, Hoeger 1 2-2 4, Taylor 2 0-0 5, Snitker 2 0-1 4, J.Kramer 1 4-8 6, Arrington 6 5-9 17, Printy 7 3-5 20, S.Kramer 1 0-0 3, Soenksen 1 0-0 2, Moore 0 1-4 1, Jenkins 0 0-0 0. Totals 23 17-33 68.
