Coe baseball team drops squeakers

WAVERLY - The Coe baseball team suffered a frustrating day in Waverly Sunday with a pair of one-run losses to the Wartburg Knights.

Wartburg won the first game, 2-1, in eight innings and captured the nightcap, 5-4. The Knights swept the four-game series.

Kyle Brady and Jake Tickle pitched well for the Kohawks in the first game, but Wartburg pushed a run across in the bottom of the eighth to prevail in extra innings.

Craig Konrardy went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs for Coe in the second game. Cole Tomlinson was 2-for-2.

Wartburg shortstop Ty Mougin, a freshman from Cedar Rapids Prairie, went 3-for-6 in the doubleheader.
