Kohawks clinch final spot in IIAC tourney

The Coe baseball team split a doubleheader with Simpson Friday at Daniels Park and clinched the final spot in the Iowa Conference tournament next week in Cedar Rapids.

Simpson won the first game, 2-1. Coe took the nightcap, 4-3.

AJ Reuter (4-3) was the hard-luck loser for the Kohawks in the opener. He pitched 5.1 innings and allowed only one earned run.

Connor Alberhasky (3-4) collected the victory in the second game. He pitched eight innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. Jake Tickle tossed a scoreless ninth inning for his fourth save.

Craig Konrardy and Colton Janssen went 2-for-3 for Coe in the second game.

The Kohawks will be the sixth seed in the Iowa Conference tournament May 8-10 at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
