IOWA CITY -- Chase Grabau, Matt Simon, Jabez Walker and Nick Gentzler won the 4x800 relay for the Linn-Mar Lions at the 39th Annual Forwald Relays Thursday in Iowa City.

The quartet was clocked in 8:09.55 for a comfortable victory over West Des Moines Valley.

Brandon Ophoff placed second in the 110 high hurdles for Linn-Mar in 15.12 seconds, trailing Tyler Donels of Southeast Polk who won the event in 14.85 seconds.

Josh Evans finished third in the 3200-meter run in 9:36.06 and Nick Lucas placed third in the 400 hurdles in 55.46 for the Lions.

Linn-Mar placed sixth in the strong eight-team field with 51 points. West Des Moines Valley won the championship with 124 points. Iowa City West placed second with 99.5 points.

Linn-Mar competed without Kyle Dunn, a three-time state champion who is serving a three-meet suspension for violating school rules.
