The people who vote in the Associated Press boys’ basketball poll think the best basketball teams in the state are right here in the Metro area.

Linn-Mar topped the first poll of the 2010-2011 campaign Tuesday (Dec. 7) and received all nine first-place votes. Jefferson is third in the 4A ratings and Washington is fourth, giving the Metro three of the top-4 spots in Iowa. Kennedy is ranked 10th.

Sioux City East prevented a 1-2-3 sweep by Metro schools by claiming the No.2 spot in the Class 4A ratings.

Others receiving votes: Southeast Polk (12), Waukee (12), North Scott (8), Davenport West (3), Marshalltown (3), Iowa City West (2), Mason City (1).
