Hawkins wins 2 events for Coe track

DUBUQUE – Chris Hawkins won the 55-meter hurdles and long jump to lead the Coe College men’s track team at the Sol Butler Invitational on Saturday at the A.Y. McDonald Indoor Track.

The Coe men finished seventh with 38 points and the Coe women were eighth with 20 points.

Hawkins won the 55 hurdles in 7.78 seconds and took the long jump with a leap of 6.82 meters.

Erik Franklin was second in the triple jump at 13.7 meters, Beau Freeborn was third in the 600 in 1:23.57, Alex Deeds was fifth in the shot put at 13.52 meters and Derrek Ross was sixth in the high jump at 1.77 meters.

Sammie Osterberger was third in the 55 hurdles in 9.14 for the Coe women, Kenize Drahm was fourth in the triple jump at 10.58 meters, Sara Bechard was fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.47 meters, Laura Bybee was fifth in the pole vault at 3.05 meters, and the Coe 4x200 and 4x400 relays each placed fourth in 1:53.26 and 4:22, respectively.
