Wash girls top Prairie after slow start

Kandis O’Donnell scored 11 points as the Washington girls basketball prevailed in a low-scoring 43-34 game Tuesday at Washington.

The Prairie Hawks jumped to a 12-5 lead in the first quarter, but the Warriors fought back with a 10-4 run in the second quarter and dominated the second half 28-18.

Anne Visser scored nine points and pulled down seven rebounds for Washington (12-8).

Olivia Usher scored 11 points to lead Prairie (3-16) and Lauren Kuch had 10 points.

PRAIRIE (34): Moenk 1 1-2 3, Altenhofen 0 1-2 1, Rotter 1 1-2 3, Kuch 2 6-7 10, Usher 3 5-10 11, Person 2 2-2 6. Totals 9 16-25 34.

WASHINGTON (43): Clark 2 2-2 6, Allie 1 0-1 3, Visser 2 3-4 9, Corey 0 0-0 0, Hoeger 0 0-0 0, Hartman 0 0-0 0, Squires 1 0-0 2, Arrington 0 0-2 0, Puk 1 1-2 3, O’Donnell 3 5-6 11, Oler 0 1-2 1, Johnson 2 2-3 6, Cullen 0 0-0 0. Totals 12 16-24 43.
