Kohawks drop twinbill to Wartburg

It turned out to be a lost weekend for the Coe College baseball team.

The Kohawks were swept by Wartburg in an Iowa Conference doubleheader at Daniels Park for the second straight day, this time by scores of 7-6 and 8-2.

Coe fell to 7-5 overall and 0-4 in the league with the four setbacks. Wartburg raised its records to 14-1 and 4-0.

The first game Saturday was tied 6-6 after seven innings, but the Knights scored in the top of the eighth inning on a solo homer by Blake Wilson and held on for the victory. Wilson hit two home runs and drove in five runs.

Ben Jacobson pitched a complete game for Coe in the opener. AJ Reuter and Michael Redmond had two hits for the Kohawks.

Coe and Wartburg both had nine hits in the nightcap, but the visitors made theirs count in the 8-2 triumph.
