The Cedar Rapids Prairie baseball team celebrated its climb into the rankings Monday by sweeping a doubleheader from ninth-ranked Iowa City West.
The eighth-ranked Hawks nipped the Trojans, 2-1, in eight innings in the first game at Prairie on a game-winning single by Nic Mougin.
Prairie took the nightcap, 6-3.
Trey Beckman led off the bottom of the eighth inning in the opener with a double. Mougin collected his walk-off single with one out.
Jared Street got the win for Prairie in the first game. Cal Clark was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Beckman went 2-for-4. Mougin was 2-for-4 with a triple and his clutch RBI.
Mougin socked a home run for Prairie in the second game. Clark had a triple and two RBIs for the Hawks. Jared Cadena also drove in two runs. Tyler Nunemaker was the winning pitcher and Mougin got a save.
The sweep lifted Prairie to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the MVC.
