Marion bumped off by Washington

WASHINGTON - The Marion Indians struggled without coach Tony Perkins on Friday night and lost to the Washington Demons, 42-12, in a Class 3A non-district game in Washington.

Perkins was suspended from the game by the Marion school district following allegations of verbal abuse in the football program.

Jack Giardino scored four touchdowns for Washington on runs of 6, 47, 82 and 4 yards. Washington quarterback Ryan Reighard scored twice on scampers of 4 and 16 yards as the Demons (1-1) collected all six of their touchdowns on the ground.

Washington led 7-0 at halftime, then soared to a 28-0 lead in the third quarter before the Indians could get on the board.

Marion quarterback Issak Hahn threw a pair of touchdown passes to Ryan Whalen, covering 65 and 17 yards.

Marion lost its 10th straight game and fell to 0-2 this season.
