RUNNELLS - The Jefferson J-Hawks finished with a 5-1 record at the Southeast Polk volleyball tournament in Runnells Saturday.

The J-Hawks defeated Des Moines Hoover (21-4), 21-11) and Indianola (24-22, 21-19) in pool play, but lost to Ankeny Centennial (21-12, 21-11) to finish in second place in pool competition.

Jefferson then won three straight matches in the Silver Bracket to place ninth out of 20 teams with victories over Pella (25-15, 22-25, 15-11), Indianola (25-19, 29-27) and Union (25-18, 25-20).
