Jadyn Spencer spun a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts Thursday as Waterloo West blanked Cedar Rapids Washington, 7-0, in the first game of a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader at Franklin Field.
Waterloo West won the second game, 12-5, with Spencer pitching in relief after Washington scored five runs.
Spencer was one pitch away from a perfect game in the opener, but hit a batter with a pitch. She also was the winning pitcher in the nightcap.
Gail Barnum went 2-for-4 for the Warriors in the second game.
Washington dipped to 5-26 overall and 3-19 in the conference. Waterloo West is 22-9 and 18-3.
