Warriors snap 9-game skid in MVC split

 

Washington drubbed Waterloo West in the opener of a Mississippi Valley Conference baseball doubleheader Friday at Washington, snapping the Warriors' nine-game losing streak.

West came back to win the nightcap, 6-5.

AJ Puk was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the opener. Robert Hogg was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Mike Troendle had two doubles and a pair of RBIs.

Grant Dostal (4-1) scattered nine hits over seven innings and picked up the win for the Warriors (9-19, 4-16).

West's Ben Stokes, who was 3-for-3 in the opener, smacked a three-run home run in the first inning of the nightcap. Conrad Bush had a pair of doubles and drove in a run for the Wahawks (7-22, 5-17).

Zach Zingula was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Warriors.

Washington plays a doubleheader Saturday at Prairie. The game time has been moved up to 11 a.m.
