Kennedy dropped two spots to No. 7 in the Class 4A baseball rankings released Monday by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.
The Cougars (26-7) fell despite sweeping a doubleheader Friday from Class 3A No.3 Dubuque Wahlert to take over sole possession of first place in the Mississippi Division of the Mississippi Valley Conference.
Xavier (21-8) moved up one spot to ninth.
Southeast Polk, which has led the 4A poll most of the season, dropped to No. 4 and Mason City took over the top spot. West Des Moines Dowling, Ankeny and West Des Moines Valley round out the top five. Iowa City West is ranked eighth.
The other top ranked teams are Solon in Class 3A, Carroll Kuemper in 2A and Martensdale-St. Marys in 1A.
