Coe women's soccer ranked for 1st time

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the first time in school history, the Coe College women's soccer team is ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of American Top 25 Poll.

Coe enters the poll for the first time at 20th, the highest any Iowa Conference women's soccer team has been ranked this season.

Along with the first national ranking in school history, the Kohawks are the top-ranked team in the NSCAA North Regional Poll. Coe is one of three teams from the Iowa Conference ranked in the regional poll as Luther is fifth and Wartburg sixth.

The Kohawks, Norse and Knights are all tied for the top spot in the Iowa Conference standings with two matches to go.

The Kohawks own a school record for wins at 14 and sit at 14-1-1 overall. Coe has won its last five matches.

Kelsey Fauser and Sarah Fathallah lead the Kohawks with six goals apiece. Shalyn Kinney has five assists, while Fauser and Ashlyn Moos each have four. MJ Winterer owns a 10-1 record in the net, recording 66 saves and giving up just seven goals.

Coe returns to action Thursday at Cornell.
