Colton helps RoughRiders belt Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Ross Colton scored two clutch goals Saturday to help the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders skate by Bloomington, 6-3, in a USHL game before 2,144 fans at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, Ill.

Colton scored his first goal in the first period to tie the game, 2-2, with an assist from Jack Ahcan. Colton netted his second goal in the early stages of the third period with assists from Hugh McGing and John Snodgrass to give the RoughRiders some breathing room at 4-2.

Johnny DeRoche, Matt Gosiewski, Mitch Reinke and Luke Morgan also scored for Cedar Rapids. DeRoche pulled the RoughRiders within 2-1 in the first period after Bloomington had jumped to a 2-0 lead. Gosiewski gave Cedar Rapids a 3-2 lead in the second stanza.

Ben Blacker made 27 saves in goal for the RoughRiders.

Cedar Rapids raised its record to 9-6 with 19 points. Bloomington fell to 8-7, also with 19 points.
