Coe men tie mark in 92-90 loss

CHICAGO - The Coe men's basketball team tied a school record with fifteen 3-pointers Saturday, but the Kohawks needed a 16th triple at the buzzer to collect the victory.

They didn't get it.

Coe lost a shootout in Chicago to North Park, 92-90, despite all those 3-pointers.

Matt Vondehaar misfired on a 3-pointer at the buzzer that could have won the game for the Kohawks (4-3).

Lincoln Vorba made five 3-pointers and led Coe with 19 points. He gave the Kohawks a 90-87 lead with 1:42 remaining, but North Park (4-2) scored the last five points of the game.

Trevor Haaland also hit five triples and scored 17 points for Coe. Marshall Shedeck had 15 points and eight rebounds. Vonderhaar finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. Matt Meyer also scored 13 points. Jake Timm collected eight assists, eight rebounds and seven points.

Juwan Henry poured in 33 points for North Park.

COE (90): Timm 2 2-3 7, Vonderhaar 5 1-2 13, Haaland 5 2-2 17, Vorba 6 2-2 19, Shedeck 6 1-2 15, Jirak 1 0-0 2, Meyer 5 3-3 13, Pflughaupt 0 0-0 0, Fahey 1 2-2 4, Reichelt 0 0-0 0. Totals 31 13-16 90.

NORTH PARK (92): Lake 6 2-2 19, Pye 0 2-2 2, McNamara 0 0-0 0, Burnett 0 0-0 0, Hutchinson 3 0-2 8, Cobbs 3 1-2 8, Henry 13 4-4 33, Biko 0 0-0 0, Robinson 10 1-2 22, Brown 0 0-0 0. Totals 35 10-14 92.
