Wash girls steal win at Grinnell

GRINNELL - The Cedar Rapids Washington girls basketball team collected 25 steals Saturday and tripped Grinnell, 60-55, in a non-conference game in Grinnell.

Joniqua Clark had eight steals for the Warriors (7-5) and Vanessa Eniola had six thefts.

Washington got off to a slow start and trailed 18-6 after the first quarter, but the Warriors got untracked and outscored Grinnell 39-27 in the second half for the victory.

Anne Visser led Washington with 17 points. Payton Bruner scored 12 points and Clark finished with 11 points. Eniola contributed nine points, seven rebounds and her six steals.

Sienna Durr poured in 20 points for Grinnell (9-3).

WASHINGTON (60): Clark 5 0-0 11, Carey 0 0-0 0, Visser 6 2-2 17, V.Eniola 3 1-2 9, B.Hoeger 0 0-0 0, M.Hoeger 0 1-2 1, Bruner 3 4-6 12, Riley 1 0-0 3, Mia 0 4-4 4, Johnson 1 1-4 3. Totals 19 13-20 60.
