Wash boys trimmed by Waterloo West

The Washington boys basketball team got off to slow starts in both halves Tuesday night and lost to Waterloo West, 65-57, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Washington.

The Warriors were outscored, 35-21, in the first and third quarters and were not able to overcome that discrepancy.

Laveechie Williams collected a double-double for Washington (4-5, 2-4) with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Hunter Strait also scored 17 points for the Warriors and Keion Wills had 13 points. Ian Thomas contributed seven points, four assists and four steals.

Demetrius Caddell scored 16 points for Waterloo West (3-5, 2-4). Amel Kuljuhovic had 14 points and snared 16 rebounds. Gabe Pepin tossed in 11 points for the winners.
