Hayhurst lifts RoughRiders in OT

Jacob Hayhurst scored on a power play at the 1:53 mark in overtime Saturday night to give the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders an exciting 3-2 victory over Youngstown in a USHL game before 3,771 fans at the Ice Arena.

Jack Ahcan and Ben Foley collected assists on Hayhurst's game-winning goal.

Youngstown scored first in the game and carried a 1-0 lead into the third period, but Justin Cole and Cal Burke connected in the third period for the RoughRiders to give the home team a 2-1 advantage.

Youngstown tied the game, 2-2, on a goal by Kevin Conley with just two minutes left in the final stanza.

Ben Blacker made 24 saves in goal for Cedar Rapids.

The RoughRiders strengthened their hold on first place in the Eastern Conference with 53 points, five points ahead of Dubuque and Green Bay.
