Jim Ecker Jim Ecker, a native of Yonkers, N.Y., graduated from the University of Michigan in 1974 with a degree in journalism. He spent 27 years as a sportswriter at The Gazette and was recently the information director at Perfect Game USA. He was named Iowa Sportswriter of the Year in 1995. |
Mike Koolbeck Mike Koolbeck graduated from Jefferson High School in 1976 and attended Kirkwood, the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Iowa. He served as Deputy Sports Editor at The Gazette and worked for the Cedar Rapids Kernels in media relations, sales and marketing. |

Mark Dukes Mark Dukes graduated from Jefferson High School in 1974 and received a Liberal Arts degree from Coe College in 1978. He worked at The Gazette for 25 years, including 14 years as Sports Editor. He is currently the manager of the Chrome Horse Slophouse & Saloon in Cedar Rapids. |

Tom Fruehling Tom Fruehling, a native of Burlington, Iowa, graduated from the University of Illinois and served as an artillery officer in the Vietnam War. He spent 31 years as a reporter at The Gazette and won numerous awards for feature writing. |
Carl Gonder Carl Gonder was a star basketball player at Washington High School and Augustana (S.D.) College and is a member of the Washington, Augustana and Iowa High School Basketball Halls of Fame. He played pro basketball for 10 years and is currently Area Director for Eastern Iowa Fellowship of Christian Athletes. |

Don Taylor Don Taylor graduated from Jefferson High School and has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. He was a high school coach, teacher and administrator for 37 years and was the head baseball coach at West Branch and Prairie. |
Scott Unash Scott Unash graduated from Kennedy High School in 1984 and received a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Iowa in 1988. He is currently the Sports & Program Director at KGYM radio in Cedar Rapids and has been honored four times with the Associated Press Play-By-Play Award. |

Sher Jasperse Sher Jasperse, an independent writer and editor, has written hundreds of articles for magazines, newspapers and websites during her 30-year career. She has been the editor of an aviation business magazine and served as Public Relations Director at Coe College from 1991-2000. |
