Shorthanded No. 4 Eagles knock off SCC

Jheda Kennedy moved into the starting lineup at point guard Wednesday  night and played 33 minutes to help No. 4 Kirkwood defeat  Southeastern, 67-46, in an ICCAC conference game at Johnson Hall.

Kennedy scored 13 points as the Eagles raised their records to 26-3 overall and 13-2 in the conference heading into the final game of the  regular season Saturday.

Starting point guard Ju Gaston and star center Paige Bradford missed  the game due to illness, leaving Coach Kim Muhl with only nine players  in uniform.

Kemara Watson, Kortney Drake and Natalie Tomaszewski matched Kennedy  with 13 points for the Eagles. Tomaszewski also had nine rebounds,  three blocks, two assists and a steal.

Emma Knipe scored 18 points for Southeastern (17-12, 8-7).

SCC (46): Shaniya Caldwell 2-7 0-0 4, Sasha Saccheus 5-15 1-1 14, Emma  Knipe 8-18 1-2 18, Kianna McWhite 1-8 0-0 2, Aryn Kindig 0-2 0-0 0,  D'Shanna Schuster 0-1 0-0 0, Destiny Trujillo 3-10 2-2 8, Ana Cecilia  0-0 0-0 0. Totals 19-61 4-5 46.

KIRKWOOD (67): Tatiana Hodges-Johnson 3-8 0-0 6, Amara Lipsey 1-6 0-0  3, Jheda Kennedy 6-10 0-0 13, Kemara Watson 6-11 1-2 13, Marissa Metz  0-4 2-2 2, Delani Harris 0-4 0-0 0, Kortney Drake 5-11 2-2 13, Addison  Rath 1-2 2-2 4, Natalie Tomaszewski 6-8 1-4 13. Totals 28-64 8-12 67.
