Coleman, Fuller suspended by Kennedy

Cedar Rapids Kennedy seniors Josiah Coleman and Darius Fuller have been suspended from the boys basketball team for at least seven games for a violation of school rules.

"They're ineligible for a violation of the good-conduct rule," Kennedy Coach Bob Fontana said Monday night after the Cougars played in the Jefferson Jamboree.

Fontana said the suspensions will last seven to 10 games, pending a final ruling by school adminstrators. "We'll get them back sometime in January," he said.

Coleman and Fuller are two of Kennedy's top players. Coleman, a 6-foot-4 swingman, averaged 10.1 points last season and was the top returning scorer. Fuller, a 5-foot-8 point guard, averaged 3.5 points last year.

"It does give us an opportunity to look at some more kids early and hopefully we'll build some depth," Fontana said, "and when they come back we'll be a stronger team."

Kennedy lost to Mount Vernon, 30-25, in the jamboree.
