Xavier grad Nate Woods named All-American

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont University senior Nate Woods has been named a Preseason All-American by Louisville Slugger and Collegiate Baseball.

Woods, 21, graduated from Xavier High School in 2007 and helped the Saints win the Class 3A state baseball title in 2006.

Woods collected 20 home runs and 78 RBIs for Belmont last season, setting school records in both categories. He hit .319, compiled a 5-6 record on the mound with a 6.65 ERA and was a first-team pick in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Woods, 6-foot-6, 210 pounds, was named a third team Preseason All-American by Louisville Slugger and Collegiate Baseball.

Woods was drafted in the 28th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2007.
