Shanice Cheatham scored 10 points and dished out seven assists and Courtney Major added 10 points to lead No. 14 Linn-Mar past Mount Vernon, 39-27, Saturday in a nonconference girls basketball game at Linn-Mar.

The win was the second in as many nights for Linn-Mar (4-1). The Lions beat Class 3A No. 3 Dubuque Wahlert, 47-41, Friday night at Linn-Mar.

Sara Strauel had eight points and eight assists for the Lions. Kristen Eiles had five points and six rebounds.
