Wagner's buzzer-beater lifts Marion boys

Mitch Wagner's buzzer-beating jumper lifted Marion past Williamsburg, 50-48, Friday night in a Wamac Conference boys basketball game at Marion.

The bucket was Wagner's second of the game, but it lifted the Indians to their fifth win in their last six games.

A pair of free throws by Williamsburg's Jackson Petz tied the game, 48-48, with four second left.

Rather than call timeout, Wagner took the inbounds pass and raced upcourt. He cout to the middle of the court and pulled up at the free throw line. His shot arced high as the buzzer sounded and then split the net.

Jared Huhndorf's 12 points led Marion (8-7, 8-5). Cale Cannoy added 10 points and Isaac Frazier had nine.

Jordan McMenomy and Mick Donohoe led scoring for Williamsburg (7-6, 6-6) with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

MARION (50): Cannoy 4 0-0 10, Wagner 2 0-1 5, Gunderson 3 0-0 6, Landuyt 3 0-0 8, Huhndorf 6 0-0 12, Frazier 4 1-5 9. Totals 22 1-6 50.

WILLIAMSBURG (48): Petz 3 2-2 8,  Donohoe 4 0-0 10, Simmons 1 0-0 2, Aljets 3 0-0 6, Cain 2 3-4 7, McMenomy 5 0-0 11, Heitman 1 2-2 4. Totals 19 7-8 48.

3-point goals – Marion 5 (Cannoy 2, Wagner 1, Landuyt 2), Williamsburg 3 ( Donohoe 2, McMenomy 1).
