Washington assistant wrestling coach honored

DES MOINES - Josh Budke, a volunteer assistant wrestling coach at Cedar Rapids Washington, was inducted into the IHSAA Wrestling Hall of Fame Saturday night.

Budke won three state titles during his prep wrestling career at Cedar Falls High School in 1995-96-97 and helped the Tigers capture the 1997 state crown.

Budke lettered three times at the University of Iowa and was a member of the 2000 NCAA championship team. He was a three time All-Academic Big Ten selection.

Budke is a partner in the employee benefits division for True North Companies in Cedar Rapids. He and his wife, Katie, live in Marion with their daughters Makenna, Maryn and Maya.

Budke was inducted into the Hall of Fame prior to the championship round of the state tournament at Wells Fargo Arena.
