Mees claims two titles at Wartburg


WAVERLY - Lukas Mees of Marion High School was a double-winner at an indoor track meet at Wartburg College Tuesday.

Mees captured the 800-meter run in 2:04.33 and claimed the 1600-meter run in 4:38.76 for an impressive double.

Taylor Rogers won the 55-meter hurdles in 7.88 seconds as part of a strong showing for the Marion Indians.

Marion took second in the 4x200 relay, second in the 4x400 relay, second in the 4x800 relay and fifth in the distance medley.

Isaac Smith finished second for the Indians in the 200-meter dash (23.74) and Isaac Frazier placed second in the high jump (1.88 meters). Cole Kuethe finished third in the 3200-meter run (10:36.66).

Cedrick Williams finished fourth in the 200-meter dash (24.75), Justin Dolley placed fourth in the shot put (44-1 3/4), Andrew Davis ran fifth in the 400-meter dash (56.03) and Frazier was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.45).

Marion also had sixth-place showings by Mitchell Livingston in the 800 (2:19.81), Colton Forester in the 3200 (11:02.53) and Zach Bornes in the shot put (43-9 1/4).
