Marion shines at Bob Brown track meet

IOWA CITY - The Marion Indians broke five meet records and ran away with the team title at the Bob Brown Invitational track meet Saturday in Iowa City.

Taylor Rogers snapped the meet record in the high hurdles in 14.93 seconds for Marion. The Indians also set meet records in the 4x800 relay, the huttle hurdle relay and the 4x200 relay.

Lukas Mees continued his strong performances this month by claiming the 3200 meter run in 9:43.73, setting a meet record as well as a school record. He also took the 1600 meter run in 4:33.84.

Greg Sam, Brennen Kelly, Trevor Hardman and Jordan Garthwaite captured the 4x800 relay in 8:26.0. Cedrick Williams, Andrew Davis, Isaac Frazier and Rogers claimed the shuttle hurdle relay in 59.89 seconds. Derrick Williams, Isaac Smith, Cale Cannoy and Devin LeBeau won the 4x200 relay in 1:31.43.

Cedrick Williams, Smith, Sam and Mees combined to win the distance medley in 3:45.21. Frazier captured the high jump with a leap of 6 feet.

Marion won the championship with 160.5 points. Clear Creek Amana finished second with 132, followed by Iowa City Regina (98), West Branch (60.5), West Liberty (54), Mount Vernon (51) and Davenport Assumption (23).
