JOHNSTON - The Jefferson boys soccer team opened its season Saturday by splitting a pair of games at the Johnston Classic.

Jefferson lost its opener, 2-1, to Johnston. The J-Hawks bounced back to beat Urbandale, 2-1.

Jefferson's only score against Johnston came on a penalty kick by Ali Al-Yasseri in the 72nd minute.

Eric Jones had an assist and a goal, and Hussin Al-Yasseri a goal in the J-Hawks' win over Urbandale.
