WATERLOO -- Solid pitching and defense led Jefferson to a doubleheader sweep of Waterloo West Monday night in Waterloo.

Hannah Petersen struck out 10 and scattered three hits in the opener.  Hannah McInerney turned a popped up bunt into a double play in the fifth to erase West’s only real threat.

Rachel Sedlacek had 3 hits and two RBIs to lead the J-Hawk attack.

In the second game, Brooke Stauffer scattered five hits and stranded seven runners, including pitching out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth.

Kaitlyn Davidson gunned down Anna Doering at the plate in the fifth when Doering tried to score on Jaclyn Spencer’s infield single.

The J-Hawks sprayed four hits in the top of the seventh to break 1-1 tie.
