Smith bowls 488 as Marion girls fall

FARLEY – Bre Smith led all scorers with a 258 game and a 488 series as the Marion girls bowling team suffered a 2,733 to 2,590 loss to Western Dubuque on Friday at Cobra Lanes.

The Indians finished 3-9 in the regular season.

Mariah Kluesner had a 414 series for Western Dubuque (10-1).

Marion (2,590): Bre Smith 258-230=488, Aleann Romo 193-164=357, Alexis Smith 135-202=337, Alyssa Rose 126-132=258, Ashley Ohl 149-116=265.

Western Dubuque (2,733): Mariah Kluesner 223-191=414, Britney Neyen 188-185=373, Lisa Schroeder 188-183=371, Madison Theisen 189-172=361, Kayla Horsfield 145-190=335, Brooke Kluesner 164-160=324.

Marion: 1,705+885=2,590.
Western Dubuque: 1,854+879=2,733.

Smith leads Marion girls in loss

INDEPENDENCE – Alexis Smith led the Marion girls bowling team in a 2,230 to 2,175 loss to Independence with a 185 game and a 373 series Friday at Lucky 10 Lanes.

The Indians fell to 2-8.

Lainie Kuper had a 370 series for the Mustangs.

Marion (2,175): Alexis Smith 195-178=373, Bre Smith 150-174=324, Ashley Ohl 134-130=264, Aleann Romo 104-147=251, Alyssa Rose 112-98=210.

Independence (2,230): Lainie Kuper 199-171=370, Sammie Brown 142-184=326, Jesica Trussell 151-154=305, Leah Rosaur 122-134=256, Jacey Schwarting 139-107=246, Lizzie Lake 118-114=232.

Marion – 1,422-753=2,175.
Independence – 1,503-727=2,230.

Marion girls take 3rd at Tripoli

TRIPOLI – Alexis Smith had a 202 game and a 340 series to lead the Marion girls bowling team to third place in a triangular meet Friday at Panther Lanes.

Denver won with 2,179 pins, Tripoli had 2,118 and the Indians finished with 1,698.

Alex Jennings led Denver with a 347 series. Kailey Heidemann rolled a 319 for Tripoli.

Marion girls edged in bowling

The Marion High School girls bowling team was trimmed by Maquoketa, 2238-2195, in a Wamac Conference meet at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center Thursday.

Bre Smith of Marion captured top honors with a 194 game and 365 series.

MARION: Alexis Smith 146-149 = 295, Alyssa Rose 95-117 = 212, Aleann Romo 166-149 = 315, Ashley Ohl 139-125 = 264, Bre Smith 171-194 = 365.

MAQUOKETA: Skyler Mangier  142-149 = 291, Diana Budde 129-160 = 289, Montana Muscle 108-85 = 193, Kelsey Dodds 133-167 = 300, Erica Paulson 150-169 = 319, Elly Fieker 149-134 = 283.

Marion girls lose close meet at Maquoketa

MAQUOKETA – The Marion girls bowling team narrowly lost to Maquoketa 2,295 to 2,269 Friday at Timber Lanes.

Bre Smith had a 216 game and a 415 series for the Indians.

Kelsey Dodds led Maquoketa with a 364 series.
