Smith, Steepleton lead Marion girls

INDEPENDENCE – Alexis Smith posted a 193 game and Alicia Steepleton rolled a 326 series to lead the Marion girls bowling team to a 2,247-2,027 win over Independence in a Wamac meet Friday at Lucky 10 Lanes.

Lainy Kuper had a 359 series for Independence.

MARION: Alicia Steepleton 151-175=326, Bre Smith 154-168=322, Alexis Smith 120-193=313, Alyssa Rose 146-156=312, Madison Baker 134-115=249, Aleann Romo 104-124=228.

Smith rolls 400 for Marion girls

Bre Smith rolled a 204 game and a 400 series to lead the Marion girls bowling team in a 2,615 to 2,125 win over Denver in a non-conference meet Thursday at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

Alexis Smith fashioned a 202 game and 395 series for the Indians.

Hannah Roeding had a 365 series for the Cyclones.

DENVER: Hannah Roeding 194-171=365, Julia Klunenberg 188-165=353, Alex Kasemeier 152-118=270, Alex Jennings 142-123=265, Megan Smith 127-119=246, Ashley Fisk 100-85=185.

Marion girls nipped in bowling

The Marion girls bowling team ralled in the Baker rotation, but the Indians fell just short against Maquoketa in a 2,452 to 2,423 loss Thursday at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

The Indians trailed 1,665 to 1,551 after the first round and out-rolled Maquoketa 872 to 787 in the Baker rotation, but it wasn’t enough.

Bre Smith had a 187 game and a 348 series for Marion.

Kelsey Dodds had a 386 series for Maquoketa.

MAQUOKETA - Alexis Smith had the hot hand Friday with a 210 game and 408 series as the Marion Indians topped Maquoketa, 2424-2115, in a Wamac Conference girls bowling meet at Timber Lanes.

MARION: Alyssa Rose 117+128=245, Alicia Steepleton 116+165=281, Bre Smith 162+150=312, Madison Baker 91+129=220, Aleann Romo 175+165=340, Alexis Smith 210+198=408.

Smith leads Marion girls by Cascade

CASCADE - Bre Smith had the hot hand again Monday as the Marion girls bowling team whipped Cascade, 2373-1549, at Cascade Lanes.

Smith submitted the high-game with a 223 and the high-series with a 417 as the Indians rolled. Alexis Smith enjoyed a 214 game and 373 series for Marion.

MARION: Alyssa Rose 101-115=216, Aleann Romo 160-139=299, Alexis Smith 160-214=374, Alicia Steepleton 122-144=266, Bre Smith 194-223=417.
