Marion boys 3rd at Wamac tennis meet

WATERLOO - The young Marion High School boys tennis team tied for third at the Wamac Conference meet in Waterloo Tuesday.

Sophomores Brandon Hornback, Michael Anderson and Tristan Beghtol all finished second in their brackets for the Indians at No.1, No.2 and No.3 singles, respectively. All three of them lost to Waterloo Columbus players in the finals.

Hornback and Anderson placed second at No.1 doubles to a pair from Columbus.

Waterloo Columbus won the title with 42 points. Western Dubuque placed second with 27 points, followed by Marion and Independence with 25 points apiece. Maquoketa was fifth with 16 markers.

Marion avenges loss to Bobcats in boys tennis

DUBUQUE - Brandon Hornback, Michael Anderson, Tristan Beghtol, Kaleb Gehman and Sam Williams won their singles matches Monday as the Marion Indians clipped Western Dubuque, 7-2, at Eagle Point Park.

Hornback defeated Travis Sahm, 10-3, at No.1 singles.

The Indians avenged a 5-4 loss to the Bobcats last Monday at Marion.

Marion - Boys Tennis

Marion netters trimmed by Western Dubuque

Brandon Hornback, Michael Anderson and Tristan Beghtol won the top three singles matches for Marion Monday, but the Indians got trimmed by Western Dubuque 5-4 in a dual meet at Marion.

Hornback blanked Travis Sahm, 10-0, at No.1 singles and paired with Anderson for a 10-0 victory at No.1 doubles.

Indians blank Union in boys tennis

LA PORTE CITY -- Marion won all nine matches and blanked Union, 9-0, Thursday in a boys tennis meet.

Marion is 3-1.

Indians rock Maquoketa in boys tennis

MAQUOKETA -- Brandon Hornback defeated Daniel Haan 10-1 at No. 1 singles to spark Marion past Maquoketa, 6-3, Monday in a Wamac Conference boys tennis meet.

Michael Anderson, Tristan Beghtol and Kaleb Gehman also won singles matches for the Indians.
