Indians rack up 2nd-place finishes at Early Bird Meet

Marion's Megan Kolarik finished second in both hurdles events to highlight the Indians' efforts Thursday night at the Marion Early Bird girls track meet.

Marion did not win an event, but had eight second-place finishes. Abby Kolarik was second in the 200 meters, Allison Scott was second in the 800 and Sam Ross second in the discus. The Indians also ran second in three relays.

There were no team scores kept.

Marion girls win 4 events at Cascade

CASCADE - Allison Scott of Marion continued her strong performances this spring by winning the 800 meter run in 2:31.00 at the Cascade Early Bird meet on Friday.

The Indians also won the 4x100 relay, 4x800 relay and sprint medley.

Morgan Kolarik placed second in the 100 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles for Marion. The Indians also placed second in the distance medley, 4x400 relay and discus with Sam Ross.

Scott wins 800 at Wamac track meet

MOUNT VERNON - Allison Scott of Marion High School won the 800 meter run at the Wamac Conference girls indoor track meet Monday at Cornell College.

Scott was timed in 2 minutes, 27.64 seconds.

Sam Livingston placed fourth in the 400 meter dash for Marion in 1:06.95. The Indians finished second in the 4x800 relay, third in the 4x200 relay, fifth in the distance medley and seventh in the 4x400 relay.

Allison Scott, 2 relays headed to state

Brooke Foreman of Cedar Rapids Washington and Amanda Piche of Linn-Mar top the list of Metro athletes who have qualified for the state track meet in Des Moines May 19-21.

Foreman is seeded No.1 in the state in the 400 hurdles and is among the top qualifiers in the 100 hurdles. Piche is ranked No.1 in the discus in Class 4A.

Cedar Rapids Jefferson is ranked No.1 in the 4x200 relay heading to Des Moines.

The IGHSAU released the entire list of qualifiers for the state track meet on Friday. The Union said the list is tentative until lane and heat assignments have been announced.
