Bach paces Indians at Marion Invy

Maddie Bach of Marion High School captured the 1500 and 3000 meter runs Thursday to help the Indians finish second in their own Marion Invitational at Thomas Park.

North Linn won the team championship with 90 points in a tight race with Marion (87), West Delaware (86) and Benton Community (84) in an 11-team field.

Bach took the 1500 in 5:07.60 and claimed the 3000 in 11:02.23.

Mahlia Brown won the shot put for Marion with a toss of 38 feet, 5 1/2 inches. The Indians got second-place finishes from Sydney Brase in the 100 hurdles (16.85) and Breanna Smith in the shot put (36-3 1/2).

Marion - Girls Track

Brown wins shot put for Marion girls

MANCHESTER - Mahlia Brown of Marion High School won the shot put with a toss of 41 feet, 1/2 inch at the West Delaware Invitational track meet Thursday.

Vinton-Shellsburg won the meet with 111 points. Marion finished fourth with 79.

The Indians got second-place finishes from Maddie Bach in the 1500 (5:09.16), Breanna Smith in the shot put (34-11) and the 4x800 relay (10:22.10).

Marion finished third in the 4x200 relay (1:52.91) and the distance medley (4:30.44).

Bach wins 2 races at Bobcat Relays

EPWORTH - Maddie Bach of Marion High School captured both distance races at the Bobcat Relays in Epworth Thursday night.

Bach won the 3000 in 10:53.48 and she took the 1500 in 5:08.23.

   

Marion - Girls Track

Steggall, Draeger pick their colleges

Marion High School seniors Johanna Steggall and Jamie Draeger will continue their sports careers at the University of Dubuque.

Steggall will play volleyball and participate in track with the Spartans. Draeger will be a member of the track team.

There will be a ceremony for Steggall and Draeger in the school district board room at the high school on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

 

Marion - Girls Track

Marion girls win 4 Early Bird events

Maddie Bach, Sydney Brase and Mahlia Brown from Marion High School won individual events at the Early Bird Invitational at Thomas Park in Marion Thursday night.

Bach captured the 3000 meter run, Brase took the 400 hurdles and Brown claimed the shot put. The Indians also won the distance medley relay.

Breanna Smith of Marion finished second in the shot put and discus. Bach placed second in the 1500. The Indians also finished second in the 800 sprint medley.

No team scores were kept.
