Warriors claim 1st title in 20 years

WATERLOO - The Cedar Rapids Washington boys golf team won its first conference title since 1994 Monday behind another impressive performance by Frank Lindwall.

Lindwall fired a 6-under-par 66 as the Warriors edged Xavier, 864-867, for the Mississippi Division title in the Mississippi Valley Conference at the Irv Warren course in Waterloo.

Lindwall ran away with medalist honors in the 54-hole tournament with scores of 69, 64 and 66 at three different courses on three different days. He won the championship by 13 strokes over Sam Martin of Xavier.

Jake Patterson of Washington finished third in the overall standings, Will Jackson finished sixth and Jabe Gonder tied for ninth, giving the Warriors four golfers in the top 10.

Even, Saints win quad in Cedar Falls

CEDAR FALLS - Jordan Even shot a 2-under-par 34 to lead Xavier to a win over three other teams in a quadrangular meet Monday at Pheasant Ridge. Xavier shot 150, six shots better than Cedar Falls.

Prairie, led by Mitch Lorenz's 38, finished at 161.

Team standings: 1. Xavier 150, 2. Cedar Falls 156, 3. Prairie 161, 4. Western Dubuque 164.

XAVIER: Jordan Even 34, Sam Martin 38, Luke Winker 39, Matt Neumeyer 39, Brody Robinson 41, Tyler Breitbach 46, Riley Dempsey 46.

PRAIRIE: Mitch Lorenz 38, Cooper Reittinger 39, Cal Clark 40, Blake Seda 44, Matt Lorenz 44, Bryce Prokop 45, Griff Clark 49.

Koberg paces Cougars to Cedar Falls title

CEDAR FALLS - Conner Koberg blew away the field with a 2-under-par 70 Friday as the Kennedy Cougars won the Cedar Falls Tiger Invitational at Beaver Hills Country Club.

Koberg defeated J.D. Goodfellow of Iowa City West by six shots in the individual standings and was the only golfer to break par on a windy day in Cedar Falls. Kennedy edged Waukee, 310-312, for the title.

Koberg collected six birdies during his round. He also had four bogeys.

Davis Sutton of Kennedy tied for fourth place with a 78. Brent Larson of Linn-Mar also shot a 78, helping the Lions finish third out of 13 teams.

Jordan Even shot an 80 to help Xavier place sixth in the standings. Blake Seda shot an 81 as Prairie finished seventh.

Warriors claim Mississippi Division golf

The Washington Warriors got a pair of 64's from Frank Lindwall and Jake Patterson Monday and won the Mississippi Division golf meet at Airport National.

The Warriors finished with a four-man score of 267 to edge Xavier (270) and Prairie (271) in a tight race for team honors.

Sam Martin of Xavier took medalist honors with an even-par 63.

Mitch Lorenz led Prairie with a 66.

Prairie - Boys Golf

Mitch Lorenz shoots 36 for Prairie

Mitch Lorenz shot an even-par 36 Thursday to help the Prairie Hawks place second in a Mississippi Valley Conference triangular meet at Twin Pines.

Andrew Kehl fired a 2-under 34 for Dubuque Senior as the Rams won the title.

Nile Happel and Kellen Brown shot 3-over 39's for Jefferson.
