Prairie upset bid falls short against Xavier

Kayla Armstrong's goal on a free kick with a minute left in the second overtime lifted No.1 Xavier past Prairie, 2-1, Thursday night in girls soccer at Prairie.

Armstrong scored both of Xavier's goals.

Hayley Moyle scored for Prairie.

Armstrong's winning goal was set up by a foul call outside of the penalty box.

Late goal quashes Prairie comeback

DUBUQUE - Prairie battled back from a two-goal deficit but lost on a score in the last two minutes, 3-2, Friday at Dubuque Hempstead.

Lizzy Fowler had a goal and an assist for Prairie. Lexi Martin also scored a goal and Mackenzie Serbousek had an assist.

Hempstead led 2-0 at halftime before Prairie mounted its comeback.

Prairie girls suffer tough setback

The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls soccer team did everything but win its game Tuesday.

The Hawks outshot Dubuque Senior, 26-5, and dominated the match, but the Rams scored a goal late in the game and returned to Dubuque with a 1-0 victory.

Prairie girls fall in PK shootout

DUBUQUE - The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls soccer team lost to Dubuque Wahlert, 1-0, in a PK shootout in a Mississippi Valley Conference game in Dubuque Thursday.

There were no goals for either team in 80 minutes of regulation or two overtimes. Wahlert won the PK shootout, 3-1, for the victory.
