Prairie girls tripped by Hempstead

Jacqui Duvall and Maddie Rainey won singles matches for Prairie Monday, but Dubuque Hempstead trimmed the Hawks 5-4 in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet at Prairie.

Duvall won 10-2 at No.4 singles and Rainey prevailed 10-7 at No.5 singles.

Prairie hosts Waterloo East on Tuesday in the first round of the Class 2A regional team tennis tournament.

The Prairie girls tennis team was defeated by powerful Iowa City West, 9-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at Prairie Tuesday.

Lola White-Baer of Iowa City West downed Caroline Rainey at No.1 singles, 10-1.

Hawks beat Cedar Falls in girls tennis

Prairie won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles to beat Cedar Falls, 6-3, Saturday in a girls tennis meet at Prairie.

Cedar Falls won at No. 1 and 2 singles and No. 1 doubles, but was stymied by Prairie's depth. The Hawks' Tasha Olson, Jacqui Duvall, Maddie Rainey and Lindsey Johnson all won a pair of matches.
