Cline, Kaness spark Wash bowlers

Bryan Cline rolled a 460 series and Kyle Kaness had a 438 Thursday as the Washington Warriors topped Kennedy, 2803-2649, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

Cline had games of 225 and 235. Kaness turned in the highest game of the day with a 237.

Davis Sutton led Kennedy with a 392 series with games of 189 and 203.

Cline, Kaness star for Wash bowlers

Bryan Cline and Kyle Kaness began the 2013-14 bowling season with
impressive performances for Cedar Rapids Washington Tuesday as the Warriors
topped Iowa City High, 2939-2680, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet
at Lancer Lanes.

Cline took top honors with 258-259=517 series and Kaness was right behind
with a 268-237=505 outing.

IOWA CITY HIGH: Mike Beaumont 173-169=342, Dan Heick 157-161=318, Keegan
Hayslett 248-192=440, Kolby Melsha 211-215=426, Wes Kirchner 189-147=336,
Ryan Harney 203-171=374.

WASHINGTON: Donovan Trimble 140-175=315, Gabe Wedel 152-165=317, Bryan

Iowa City High: 1918 Round 1 & 762 Round 2 = 2680.

Wash's Bryan Cline 2nd at boys state bowl

DES MOINES - Washington sophomore Bryan Cline fired a 279 in his second game to shoot a 503 series and finished second Tuesday at the Class 2A boys state bowling tournament at Plaza Lanes.

Washington was third in the team race and Linn-Mar was fourth, 18 pins behind the Warriors.

Davenport North won the team title with a score of 3633. North's Zach Fries rolled a 300 in his first game and followed with a 255 to win the individual crown with a 555 series.

Prairie's Nick Blood shot a 479 series and tied for seventh.

Washington - Boys Bowling

Washington boys bowlers headed to state

CLINTON -They weren't flashy, but the Washington Warriors were solid Thursday in a Class 2A state qualifying meet.

Bryan Cline shot a 255 high game and 447 series to lead the Warriors to first place and an automatic spot in next week's state tournament at Des Moines.

Washington finished with a score of 3130. The Warriors had five bowlers shoot 389 or better and three cracked the 400 barrier. Qunicy Bruce shot a 424 series and Kyle Kaness a 406.

Prairie's Nick Blood qualified for the individual state tournament with a 469 series. No Washington bowler qualified for the individual meet.

Washington - Boys Bowling

Bruce sparks Wash bowlers by Wahawks

WATERLOO - Quincy Bruce rolled games of 246 and 222 for a 468 series Tuesday as the Washington Warriors topped Waterloo West, 2970-2591, in a Mississippi Valley Conference bowling meet at Maple Lanes in Waterloo.

Kyle Kaness contributed a 402 series for the Warriors (8-3) with games of 200 and 202.
