Washington - Boys Bowling

Blood, Sturtz top all-Metro bowling

Rylee Blood of Prairie and Hunter Sturtz of Jefferson have been honored as the Athletes of the Year on the all-Metro bowling teams, as selected by the Metro coaches.

Prairie girls claimed three of seven spots on the all-Metro first team with Blood, Ashley Sundstrom and Sabrina Keiper. Shania Christensen of Washington, Bre Smith of Marion, Mekena Diercks of Linn-Mar and Jamie Milota of Kennedy also made the first team.

Alex Diercks of Linn-Mar, James Jambois of Kennedy, Matt Galloro of Prairie, Jarrett Steward of Marion, Jacob Fulton of Xavier and Charlie Hart of Xavier joined Sturtz on the all-Metro first team for boys.

Don Willfong of Prairie was named the girls Coach of the Year and Mat Fowler of Jefferson was named the boys Coach of the Year.

Second Team Girls

Kaitlyn Earley (Prairie), Alexis Tschantz (Linn-Mar), Jade Klinefelter (Prairie), Alexis Smith (Marion), Megan Kitzmiller (Jefferson), Tanya Zaugg (Xavier).

Washington - Boys Bowling

Kennedy, Wash take 3rd, 4th

The Kennedy and Washington boys bowling teams placed third and fourth, respectively, in a Class 3A state qualifier tournament Tuesday at Lancer Lanes and did not advance to the state meet.

Cedar Falls won with 3,288 pins and earned an automatic berth to the state tournament, followed by Bettendorf with 3,142, Kennedy with 2,974 and Washington with 2,670.

Brandon Jerome of Cedar Falls was the individual champion with a 533 series.

Max Hiatt rolled a 219 game and James Jambois had a 392 series to lead the Cougars.

Schuster paces Xavier by Warriors

Jackson Schuster had a 231 game and a 446 series as the Xavier boys bowling team topped Washington, 2,936 pins to 2,719, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday at May City Bowl.

Jacob Bents rolled a 250 game and 444 series to lead the Warriors.

Timble rolls 476 series for Warriors

Donovan Trimble rolled a 265 game and a 476 series to lead the Washington boys bowling team in a 3,434 to 2,694 loss to Dubuque Hempstead in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Zach Pregler led the Mustangs with a 479 series.

Galloro helps Prairie top Washington

Matt Galloro rolled a 236 game and a 418 series to lead the Prairie boys bowling team in a 2,870 to 2,581 win over Washington in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Walker Hunt was close behind with a 414 series for the Prairie Hawks.

Hunter Bachmeier rolled a 228 game and a 432 series for the Warriors.
