Moon sparks Warriors with 415 series

Lynze Moon fired a 415 series Tuesday to help the Cedar Rapids Washington
girls bowling team defeat Iowa City High, 2516-2208, in a Mississippi
Valley Conference meet at Lancer Lanes.

Moon rolled games of 213 and 202 for the Warriors for high-game and
high-series.

IOWA CITY HIGH: Maddie Van Ginkle 189-137=326, Shyniece Cirillo
105-119=224, Brittnee Price 123-175=298, Emma Gingerich 171-127=298,
Olabis Kovalbel 132-123=255, Liz Goss 114-165=279.

WASHINGTON: Shania Christiansen 170-156=326, Lynze Moon 213-202=415, Ally
Owens 107-104=211, Ella Wake 157-124=281, Kelly Waters 188-175=363, Keely
Pernicka 160-141=301.

Iowa City High: 1456 Round 1 + 752 Round 2 = 2208.
Washington: 1686 Round 1 + 830 Round 2 = 2516.

Washington girls nab state bowling berth

CLINTON - Shania Christensen and Courtney Snodgrass rolled 404 series to propel Washington to a first-place finish at Thursday's Class 2A state-qualifying meet in Clinton.

The Warriors earned an automatic bid to next week's state meet at Des Moines.

Christensen and Snodgrass also qualified for the individual state tournament.

Prairie finished fourth in the meet, but Rylee Blood shot a 462 series and qualified for the individual state tournament. Her score was the second-highest qualifier in the state.

Washington - Girls Bowling

Waterloo West girls bowl over Warriors

WATERLOO - Washington's Keely Pernicka rolled a 352 series in a losing cause Tuesday when Waterloo West bested the Warriors, 2722-2226, in girls bowling.

Courtney Snodgrass had a 340 series for Washington.

West's Alexus Wilson shot high game of 258 and took series honors with a 430.

Snodgrass leads Warrior girls bowlers past IC West

Courtney Snodgrass shot games of 191 and 179 for a 370 series that led Washington past Iowa City West, 2585-2332, Friday in girls bowling at Lancer Lanes.

Kelly Waters also had a 191 game for the Warriors.

Washington held a 131-pin lead after the first round.

Palmer's 477 powers Prairie girls past Wash

Katlynn Palmer was red-hot for Prairie, rolling games of 244 and 233 for a 477 series that led the Hawks past Washington, 2695-2477, Friday afternoon at Lancer Lanes.

Amber Westemeier had a 215 game and Rylee Blood shot a 200 for Prairie.

Courtney Snodgrass led Washington with a 235 game and 404 series.
