Kennedy girls 3rd at regional golf

Sierra Hargens shot an 86 Tuesday to help the Kennedy girls golf team place third out of 10 teams at the Class 5A regional tournament at Gardner Golf Course.

Maddie Hawkins of Dubuque Senior took medalist honors with a 10-over-par 82. Cedar Falls won the team championship.

The top five individuals and top two teams advance to the state tournament.

Hargens finished eighth in the standings. Mady Goodwin of Washington placed 10th with a 90. Emily Machula of Prairie finished 12th with a 91.

Wash sending 4 players to state meet

MARSHALLTOWN - Washington's Kelly King defeated teammate Jennifer Grief, 6-0, 6-2, in a Class 2A regional final on Thursday.

Both Warriors advanced to the state meet as did the doubles team of Lilly Hartman and Hannah Sherman, a 6-4, 6-0 winner over Waterloo West's Din Kaitozavic and Tina Kaitozavic.

Machula is medalist at Airport golf

Emily Machula of Cedar Rapids Prairie shot a 36 Tuesday to claim medalist honors in a triangular golf meet at Airport National.

Kandis O'Donnell shot a 40 to help the Washington Warriors win the meet.

TEAM STANDINGS

1. Washington 166, 2. Prairie 174, 3. Jefferson 204.

WASHINGTON: Kandis O'Donnell 40, Grace Claassen 41, Brett Visser 42, Mady Goodwin 43, Devon O'Donnell 49, Kate Nash 49.

Goodwin's 45 leads Wash girls

CEDAR FALLS - Mady Goodwin shot a 45 to lead the way as Washington finished second to Cedar Falls in a three-team Mississippi Valley triangular Thursday at Pheasant Ridge.

The host Tigers, led by medalist Hannah Bermel's 36, shot 163.

Washington finished at 189 and Xavier at 195.

Amy Olberding and Catie Locher each shot 47s to lead the Saints.

 

WASHINGTON: Mady Goodwin 45, Kandis O'Donnel 47, Grace Claassen 48, Brett Visser 49, Devon O'Donnell 49, Riley DeWolf 65, Sophie Fox 74.

Xavier girls trim Wash in golf

Amy Olberding shot a 44 Wednesday to lead the Xavier girls golf team to a 196 to 200 victory over Washington at Gardner Golf Course.

Katie Locher of Xavier was the runner-up with a 46. Mady Goodwin led Washington with a 47.

Maquoketa competed in the meet, but had only three golfers.

XAVIER: Amy Olberding 44, Katie Locher 46, Melanie Wertzberger 52, Emily Schuff 54, Amy Boe 59, Shelby Olson 61, Madi Ries 62, Shelby Younggreen 63.

WASHINGTON: Mady Goodwin 47, Devon O'Donnell 49, Brett Visser 50, Kandis O'Donnell 54, Grace Claassen 56, Riley DeWolf 58, Kate Nash 61.
