Maddie Scheldrup scored the only goal Thursday night as the No.2 Linn-Mar Lions blanked Washington, 1-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls soccer match under the lights at Kingston Stadium.

Olivia Garcia collected an assist on Scheldrup's goal.

Kigin lifts Wash girls by Rams

Katie Kigin scored the only goal of the game Thursday night as Cedar Rapids Washington topped Dubuque Senior, 1-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer game.

The match was played under the lights at Kingston Stadium.

Prairie girls kick Warriors, 4-1

Adelaide Bayne scored two goals Thursday night as Prairie clipped Cedar Rapids Washington, 4-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls soccer match at Prairie.

Hannah Kousheh and Cayla Renwick scored the other goals for the Hawks. Alexa Martin, Paige Pritts and Kelsey Wenger collected assists for Prairie (3-0).

Annee Cooper tallied for Washington.

Katie Kigin scored two goals Thursday as Cedar Rapids Washington topped Iowa City Regina, 3-1, in a girls soccer match at Kingston Stadium.

Annee Cooper tallied the third goal for the Warriors. Maggie Clair colleced an assist in the game.

Kennedy girls knock off Warriors

Last season, the Kennedy girls went into the state soccer tournament ranked seventh and ended up taking the title by beating the top three teams in three days.

They’re hoping the underdog role pays off this year as well.

“We’re excited to prove everyone wrong again,” said Cougar captain Tory Harman after leading her squad into next week’s regional finals with a 4-1 win over Washington Wednesday night at Kingston Stadium.

“We’ve had kind of a bumpy season, and a lot of people have written us off. So we’re out to prove something.”
