Washington - Girls Swimming

Washington swimmers fall at Dubuque

DUBUQUE - Amy Parker, McKenzie Asplund and Jackie Hughes won individual events Tuesday for Cedar Rapids Washington in a Mississippi Valley Conference swim meet against Dubuque Senior.

Dubuque Senior captured nine of 12 events and won the meet, 105-81.

Parker claimed the diving, Asplund took the 500 freestyle and Hughes won the 100 breaststroke.

Washington - Girls Swimming

Cedar Falls swamps Warrior tankers

Cedar Falls swept all 12 events and routed Washington, 139-44, Tuesday night in a girls swimming meet at the Washington pool.

Cedar Falls swept the top three spots in five events.

Washington had four second-place finishes, two in relays. Amy Parker was second in diving and Jackies Hughes second in the 500 free.

Washington - Girls Swimming

Allen, Hughes and Asplund lead Warrior swimmers

Jackie Allen, Jackie Hughes and McKenzie Asplund won four events apiece to lead Washington past Marshalltown, 112.5-73.5, Thursday in a girls swimming meet at Washington.

Allen won the 50 and 100 free and swam on the winning medley and 400 freestyle relays.

Hughes won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke and swam on the winning medley and 200 free relays.

Asplund won the 200 free and 500 free and swam on the winning 200 and 400 free relays.

Maddie Dietz was a triple-winner for the Warriors. She won the 100 backstroke and swam on the winning medley and 400 free relays.

Warriors sunk by IC West, 140-46

The powerful girls swimming team from Iowa City West won all 12 events Tuesday and dunked Cedar Rapids Washington, 140-46, at the Washington pool.

The Women of Troy finished first and second in every individual event except the 100 freestyle, where Washington senior Jackie Hughes gave Ariel Roghair a good battle before falling short by 3-hundredths of a second.

Warriors swamp J-Hawk swimmers

Jackie Hughes and McKenzie Asplund won four events apiece and Washington swamped Jefferson, 122-64, Tuesday at the J-Hawk pool.

Jackie Allen and Maddie Dietz won three events apiece for the Warriors. Kaitlyn Nemickas won a pair of events.

Hughes won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, and also swam on the winning medley relay and 200 free relay.

Asplund won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke and swam on the medley and 400 free relays.

Allen won the 500 free and swam on the medley and 200 free relays.

Dietz won the 500 free and swam on the 200 and 400 free relays.

Nemickas won the 100 backstroke and led off the medley relay.

Jefferson won two events. Olivia Northrup won the 100 free and Hannah Martin claimed the diving.
