Asplund claims 500 freestyle for Warriors

CEDAR FALLS - McKenzie Asplund captured the 500 freestyle Tuesday night for Cedar Rapids Washington in a Mississippi Valley Conference dual meet at Cedar Falls.

Cedar Falls won 11 of 12 events and dunked the Warriors, 139-46.

Asplund was clocked in 5:32.19 for a nine-second victory.

Washington - Girls Swimming

Washington swimmers nip Marshalltown, 94-91

MARSHALLTOWN - Jackie Hughes and McKenzie Asplund were triple winners Thursday night as Cedar Rapids Washington trimmed Marshalltown, 94-91, in girls swimming at Marshalltown.

Hughes won the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle. She also swam on the triuimphant 200 freestyle relay.

Asplund captured the 100 butterly and 100 breaststroke. She joined Hughes, Maddie Dietz and Jackie Allen on the 200 freestyle relay.

Amy Parker claimed the diving title.

Washington - Girls Swimming

Warrior swimmers glide past Senior

Jackie Hughes won four events and McKenzie Asplund three to lead Washington past Dubuque Senior, 98-82, Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls swimming meet at Washington.

The Warriors' margin of victory less than a half-second. Washington won the medley relay by .13 seconds and the 400 free relay by .22 seconds and Asplund beat Dubuque Senior's Olivia Knowles by .07 seconds in the 100 free.

Hughes, Asplund, Maddie Dietz and Andie Toledo were on the medley relay. Hughes, Dietz, Gloria Campbell and Jackie Allen swam on the 400 free relay.

Hughes also won the 200 free and 100 breaststroke. Asplund won the 200 IM and 100 free.

Washington's Amy Parker won in diving.

Hughes, Allen, Asplund lead Washington swimmers

DUBUQUE - Jackie Hughes, Jackie Allen and McKenzie Asplund led Cedar Rapids Washington to a 104-81 victory over Dubuque Wahlert in a Mississippi Valley Conference swim meet in Dubuque Tuesday.

Hughes collected first-place finishes in the 200 medley relay, 200 IM, 200 free relay and 100 breaststroke.

Allen was a four-time winner in the 200 medley relay, 50 free, 100 free and 200 free relay.

Asplund was a triple-winner in the 200 medley relay, 200 free and 500 free.
