Kennedy wrestlers knock off Warriors

The Kennedy wrestling team had three pins in a 57-22 win over Washington on Thursday at Kennedy.

Cam Shaver (113 pounds), Nolan Hromidko (132) and Logan Rodriguez (152) posted the pins for the Cougars.

Ronnie Arenas (120), Will Foreman (126) and Billy Faulkner (220) had pins for the Warriors.

No. 6 Prairie tops Wash, City High

The sixth-ranked Prairie wrestling team cruised to a pair of victories over Washington and Iowa City High in a double-dual Thursday night at the Prairie gym.

Marcus England, Chase St. John and Casey Hogan won both of their matches for the Hawks. England and St. John collected a pin and major decision, while Hogan had a pin and regular decision.

Will Foreman won both of his matches at 126 pounds at Washington for a 9-0 record this season.

Foreman wins Metro Spotlight Award

Will Foreman of Cedar Rapids Washington is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Foreman, a sophomore, has gotten off to a terrific start with the Washington wrestling team this season. He has a 7-0 record at 126 pounds with six pins and a 10-3 decision.

Foreman began the season Tuesday with victories against wrestlers from Marion and Mount Vernon in a double-dual, including a pin in 40 seconds against Marion. He collected two more pins in a double-dual against Waterloo East and Waterloo West Thursday, including another quick pin in 1:24 against Waterloo East.

Foreman wins title at Bondurant-Farrar

BONDURANT - Will Foreman of Cedar Rapids Washington collected three straight pins Saturday and won the 126-pound title at the Bondurant-Farrar wrestling tournament in Bondurant.

Foreman pinned Tanner Probasco of South Tama in the finals in 3 minutes, 22 seconds.

Williamsburg won the team championship. Washington finished sixth out of eight schools.

TEAM STANDINGS

1. Williamsburg 236, 2. South Tama 183, 3. Boone 164, 4. Bondurant-Farrar 125, 5. Waukee 104, 6. Washington 103, 7, Collins-Maxwell-Baxter 87, 8. Guthrie Center 0.

Washington wrestlers split in Waterloo

WATERLOO – The Washington wrestling team split a double-dual Thursday night, losing to Waterloo East 49-24 and beating Waterloo West 42-32.

Will Foreman earned a pair of pins for the Warriors at 126 pounds, beating Waterloo East’s Isaiah Allen and Waterloo West’s Samuel Wright.

Dalton Lauderdale (132), Matt Ackerman (160) and Brooklyn Butler (170) each had one pin for Washington.
