Marion wrestlers split double dual

The Marion High School wrestling team split a double-dual Tuesday night at Marion.

The Indians topped Cedar Rapids Washington, 45-24, and lost to Mount Vernon, 42-30.

Trey Clifton (138) and Colin Conway (152) won both of their matches for Marion. Caleb Conway (145) went 2-0 with a pin and a forfeit.

Lembeck gets 2 pins for Saints

DUBUQUE - Clint Lembeck collected two pins for the Xavier Saints Thursday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet in Dubuque.

Lembeck pinned,  of Washington in 1:46 and stuck Rees Hauder of Hempstead in two minutes.

Hempstead swept the meet with a 69-12 verdict over Xavier and a 76-6 triumph over Washington. Xavier topped Washington, 60-12.

Lions nab 2 titles at Clinton

CLINTON – The Linn-Mar wrestling team won a pair of individual titles and scored 117.5 points for sixth place Saturday at the Bob Lueders Invitational.

Washington scored nine points for 19th place.

Matt Wempen improved to 15-0 with a 12-2 major decision over Sean Gohlke of Milton for the 145-pound title for the Lions. Shea Hartzler (29-1) won the 160 title with an 11-1 major decision over Davenport Assumption’s Joe Argo.

Jefferson grapplers blank Wash, 82-0

Seth Jellison, Tyler Unkel and Dalton Kuehl had pins Thursday night as Jefferson blanked Washington, 82-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference dual meet at Jefferson.

Washington forfeited 10 of 14 matches.

Brenden Baker of Jefferson posted a 12-2 major decision over Will Foreman at 113 pounds.

A perfect score in high school wrestling is 84-0, so the J-Hawks fell two points shy of that.

Foreman takes title for Wash wrestlers

CASCADE – Will Foreman won the 113-pound title as the Washington wrestling team scored 64 points for sixth place at the Cascade Invitational Saturday.

Foreman won a 5-4 decision over Jake Durgin of Mount Vernon in the finals.

Matt Ackerman was second at 152 for the Warriors.
