Schuler wins title at Benton

VAN HORNE - Brenden Baker won the 106-pound title and Jefferson also had a pair of runner-up finishers to place second Saturday in the Jerry Eckenrod Invitational wrestling meet at Benton Community High School.

Jefferson's Kyle Briggs (120) and Josh Allen (182) lost in championship bouts. The J-Hawks finished 31 points behind champion Davenport Assumption.

Washington's Trey Schuler won the 132-pound title. The Warriors placed 12th in the team standings.

Prairie wrestlers roll by Warriors, Trojans

Prairie lost only one match Thursday and pounded Washington and Waterloo East in a wrestling double dual at Washington.

Prairie flattened Washington 73-3 and Waterloo East 84-0.

Waterloo East beat Washington, 48-36.

Schuler takes 2nd at DeWitt wrestling meet

DEWITT - Trey Schuler of Cedar Rapids Washington placed second at 132 pounds at the Saber Invitational in DeWitt Saturday.

Schuler (14-3) collected a pin and a 12-2 major decision before being pinned by Carter Happel of Lisbon in the finals.

Washington tied for ninth out of 13 teams with 71 points.

Tyler Burkle placed third at 172 pounds for Washington, Mason Gee was fourth at 160, Noah Fox was fourth at 195 and Matt Ackerman finished fifth at 138.

Schuler shines in Warrior losses

Trey Schuler won by major decision and fall Thursday night, but Washington lost twice on the mat at Jefferson.

Schuler had a major decision in the Warriors' 63-7 loss to Jefferson. The Warriors forfeited seven matches.

Schuler and Mason Gee had falls in Washington's 70-12 loss to Cedar Falls. The Warriors forfeited eight matches.

Schuler, Dills win titles for Warriors

BONDURANT - Trey Schuler and Dax Dills won titles for the Cedar Rapids Washington wrestling team Saturday at the Bluejay Invitational in Bondurant.

Schuler blanked Austin Moen of Saydel, 7-0, in the championship bout at 132 pounds. Dills trimmed Tucker Ksiazek of Bondurant-Farrar, 4-2, for the crown at 152 pounds.

Noah Fox reached the finals at 195 pounds, but lost to Nathan Jacobsen of Waukee.

Waukee won the team title with 260.5 points. Washington finished seventh out of 11 teams with 172 points.
