Miller, Hart pace Xavier bowlers

IOWA CITY - Caleb Miller rolled a 438 series and Sam Hart had a 431 Friday as the Xavier Saints topped Iowa City High, 2773-2665, in a Mississippi Valley Conference bowling meet at Colonial Lanes in Iowa City.

Hart submitted the high game with a 239 and Miller was right behind with a 237.

Klimesh sparks Xavier bowlers

WATERLOO - Zach Klimesh bowled a 404 series Tuesday to help the Xavier
Saints top Waterloo East, 2985-2789, in a Mississippi Valley Conference
meet at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo.

Zach Schnoebelen had the high-game for Xavier with a 240 and finished with
a two-game total of 400. Tannis Morgan had a 245 for Waterloo East.

Caleb Miller wins state bowling title

DES MOINES - Xavier sophomore Caleb Miller fired a 279 his second game Monday that lifted him to a 492 total and the Class 1A state bowling title at Plaza Lanes.

Miller rolled a 213 in his first game, but went high in his second. He beat Dubuque Wahlert's AJ Gregory by 14 pins for the title.

Xavier's Kyle Elliott finished fourth with games of 246 and 216 for a 462 total.

The Saints finished second in the team race to Dubuque Wahlert. The Golden Eagles had a score of 3368, Xavier 3242.

Guge leads Saints to state bowl

DUBUQUE - Kirby Guge shot a 265 high game and 456 series to lead the Xavier boys to a state tournament berth Thursday during the Class 1A state-qualifying meet at Cherry Lanes.

Xavier finished third in the six-team event with a score of 3114. The Saints' total was the fourth-highest qualifying score in the state and they grabbed the second of two at-large berths.

Bellevue won with a score of 3163 and Dubuque Wahlert was second at 3143. Marion tied for fifth.

Guge finished fifth in the meet, but his score also was good enough to qualify for the individual state meet.
